Seldom encountered without his signature Tilley hat and a repertoire of questionable puns, "Gordon the Warden" devoted his life to conservation and advocacy for rangers worldwide. His appetite for off-the-beaten-track travel never faltered, but he always relished coming home to his beloved Peak District. Gordon had an enormous capacity for friendship and storytelling. Curious, life-loving, open, and collaborative, Gordon generously shared his experiences, time, and knowledge with countless others. We are very proud of his legacy to the natural world and ranger services. To us, he was a loving, joyful, and caring dad, brother, and uncle. We will miss him immeasurably.
The obituaries below give a flavour of Gordon's environmental advocacy and deep commitment to the status of Rangers worldwide.

Gordon was a warm-hearted ambassador for the rangers of the world. It's a joy to read messages from so many places and know that rangers are in a better place because of Gordon's work --- and of so many who believe in the same cause.
