A truly amazing uncle and an even better human! What a life my uncle Gordon lived. I will always remember the time we spent together and will do my best to carry on his legacy of sharing cringe-worthy puns with others :) Here's to you, "Gordo". We love you!!

It was a great sadness to see such a vibrant friend decline. It was so unfair. I will always smile when thinking of Gordon. We connected over our cats. Me looking after his and he mine. Gordon and Denise were the first in the village to invite us in, give us two kittens and suggest a place in the choir (but only if I were a soprano) and we stayed friends ever since. The International Ranger Federation would like to extend our immense gratitude to Gordon, as one of its founders, for his dedication to rangers, his vision for bringing rangers from different countries, cultures, languages, ethnicity, gender and religion together around a common cause and making every ranger feel comfortable as a member of the global ‘ranger family’. His commitment to his vision was unwavering, as he participated in the affairs for as long as he was able to do so. With sincere gratitude for all his efforts, IRF will continue to develop and raise the profile of the ranger profession globally.

In 2016, on the 50th Anniversary of the Countryside Management Association, Gordon became our Honorary President. The CMA is immensely honoured to have had Gordon at the helm ever since. A gentleman through and through and such a role model and inspiration for rangers here at home and around the planet. Rest in peace dear Gordon, you'll be forever in our hearts and minds.

I will always remember Gordon taking us on the annual walk from Edale primary school. His enthusiasm and love for nature and the outdoors was contagious. He is an Edale legend and I'm sure his memory will live on for many years to come. Sending love to the family.

What a lovely man. When we moved to Edale in 2007 Gordon used to take my husband (another Gordon) for excursions around the Peaks, showing him special markers and secret places - he knew everything about this corner of the world. My Gordon died 6 months ago. The two Gordons are probably rambling together somewhere, sharing archaeological knowledge and bad puns. Lots of love to you, Naomi.

John and I met Gordon at Naomi and Jeff’s wedding. John was smitten with Gordon’s snappy hat and even tried to buy it off his head before the ceremony. Gordon laughed it off with a big smile.

I was lucky enough to have met Gordon at various ranger conferences in different counties over recent years. He was always kind, making you feel very welcome, and always with wise words to share - a true gentleman. Good fun too - often to be found on the dance floor in the evenings. He will be greatly missed.

What an amazing man and an incredible life. We in the CMA were very fortunate to benefit from his support and guidance as our President for many years, and rangers all around the world have benefitted from his vision and foresight. He is sadly missed but his legacy lives on.

Thank you dear Gordon for the fantastic guidance of the staff of the Polish national parks in beautiful England and Scotland in 1992. I feel so lucky to have grown up in Edale with Gordon living next door. Seeing him sitting outside his house was always a part of coming home. He made our corner so much more cosy and sunny with his constant little acts of welcome and friendship. He helped me to grow up loving the natural world and understanding how to respect it and keep it thriving. He always made anyone who came to the village feel safe and supported and I know he was a big part of helping my mum settle in and making our family at home. He was also who gave us our cats! His Christmas Eve parties really made the holiday special and I'll remember them all my life for their warmth and merriment. But all year round Gordon exemplified what it meant to be a good neighbour. I'll really miss seeing him in the village, and I will always be grateful to have known him and learned from him.

During the IRF congress at Kruger National Park, in 2000. He rewarded me with the President s Award, the first ever in the IRF. It was a beautifull watercolor. I could not believe it. I was so emotioned that it took some minutes to be able to stand and take it from his hands.

What a privilege it was for us to have Gordon stay a few days with us in Wellington, New Zealand, back 15 or more years ago, just because we had a family connection with Jane Chapman. He was an absolute delight and certainly an inspiration to take time to appreciate our "Great Outdoors" and those who work so hard to maintain these areas. We formed an immediate bond and just loved him and often refer to those special days we so enjoyed. May he rest in peace now - Job well done! - tireless worker - Absolute Huggable Delight!

With all our love as we treasure memories of Gordon - a gentle and wise companion through my whole life - sharing his delight from moss to stars and everything in between. Thankful for his deep and lasting friendship to our father John Robinson, and for his kind godfathering role to our son Joseph. We had such fun, and shall miss him and remember him as the road leads onwards. Rest in peace dear Gordon, and may love and comfort wrap around the whole family. xxx
